Day ThreeHundred-SixtyThree

It was definitely one of those weeks that you wish you could dump into a garbage disposal....while running.  So Friday I decided to release some of the stress of the week, in a way I've never even come close to before.  I've never been a fan of guns, more a fear of the unknown, but when the opportunity presented itself, I jumped at the chance.  I had a great friend and ex-military man, Z (who you met just a few days prior on 365) as my instructor and he rocked.  Wouldn't have done it any other way.  Started with a .22 and worked through a couple .45's, .357 King Cobra, and finished on a SCAR.  Honestly, I really have no idea what that last sentence really means.  But either way, it was completely kick ass.  What you can't see in the frozen moment above is the shaking of my hands.

Disclaimer:  I have this awesome habit of grabbing my camera on the go and then when I turn it on wherever I may be to snap a shot, there is on thing missing...the memory card.  Today was no exception.  And I was SO excited to get a great shot (no pun intended!).  So this pic was taken from my iPhone, as well as by the hubby.

Day ThreeHundred-FiftyFour

While chatting at a neighbor's house this afternoon over a glass of wine, I heard a sort of quiet snorting behind me.  When I looked back this is what I saw.  REALLY!?!?  Can you say LOVE??  And her name is Tinkerbell.  And she's a complete sweetheart.  Can I have one?

Day TwoHundred-FiftyFour

What is a BFF?  A friend that lives on the other side of the world, but takes a week out of her summer to visit you.  What a pair, these two.  Moe asked the other day, "If you could live anywhere in the world where would you choose?"  Her response to her own question was "Wherever is closest to Katie".  That would be the little girl next to her...also known as her BFF.

And my apologies on the iPhone pic.  When I'm in a hurry, I have a tendency to take my camera without the memory card because it's still sitting in my computer from the 365 load of the prior day.  Today was no exception.

Day TwoHundred-FortyOne

To my drama-filled, question-asking, non-stop talking, hilarious, sweet and beautiful FIVE year old little girl.  You've been waiting months to "be big".  Today's your day...sigh.  Happy Birthday Cakes!

P.S. This is the same picture and post I used via FB and my iPhone because my CF card decided to crash on me, losing all pictures taken on Cakes 5th birthday.  Why does that only happen on days you REALLY want the pictures you take??  Very painful to say the least.

Day TwoHundred-Sixteen

I'd say someone had a tiring Memorial Day weekend...as did his mom and that's why it was an iPhone kind of day.

Day TwoHundred-Eleven

After a closing like today, it's wonderful to come home to a housewarming gift like this one...

Day OneHundred-FortyOne

Thank you to my sister and brother-in-law (and Cordie) for opening your doors to myself and a house full of guests. It was a great week and perfect way to peek at the joys we will be gaining when we repatriate in the upcoming month. I love you! Goodbye NYC...I cannot wait until we meet again.

Day OneHundred-TwentyEight

Our very own film strip ... via MoeCakes and an iPhone.  Laying around the pool these two know how to pass the time, add a camera in their face and they know how turn it on.

Day OneHundred-TwentySeven

Thank you Ku De Ta. You will forever be one of my top spots in the world.

Cakes.

Day OneHundred-TwentySix

Moe in Bali.

Even tried to find a camera to rent. No luck. Can I cry a bit more?

Day OneHundred-TwentyFive

Serenity.

OneHundred-TwentyFour

Life without a camera...on vacation...is a photographer's nightmare. Having to rely (solely) on an iPhone camera is not only a challenge but disheartening at every turn. But it wouldn't be right to completely halt 365 until I have my camera back. So, here are my chosen pics for the last couple days. Sigh.

Day OneHundred-TwentyThree

Bound for Bali, this was the view as we began our decent. Nature is an amazing thing.

Day OneHundred-Seventeen

I'm back with a picture I took knowing it would be the photo of the day, just never got around to actually loading it.  This was taken out of my airplane window flying from Singapore to Jakarta last Thursday.  All I can think when I look at it is - So, that's heaven.  Just stunning.

Day Sixty-Three

There isn't much expats know how to do better than have a themed party that requires dressing up.  My kids even hear the word "party" now and ask what they are going as.  Today's luncheon was the Top of Pops in the UK on Christmas Day.  Our table was "It's Only Make Believe" by Conway Twitty....i.e. a "Santa Vampire".  Merry Christmas!?
Oh, and it was an iPhone kinda day.

Day Thirty-One

Looking for his inner reflection. Been in Singapore for the last couple days--no camera except for my iPhone. So bear with me!

365

A Photoblog by MoeCakes Photography that shares a single photo on a daily basis. Lasting a total of 365 days, it will not only create a daily (and collective) glimpse into my personal life, but challenge me as a photographer to utilize and develop my skills in new and unique ways.

About Me

My photo
Grad Student. Wife. Mom. An artist, yogi, photographer, graphic designer, former teacher and expat...photography has been part of my life since I can remember. I love the sound of a shutter clicking, travel, lotus flowers, inversions, backyards, an ice cold G&T, a great pair of shoes, and an inspiring read....just to name a few. I truly believe Ewan MacGregor could be my best friend and I was a dancer in my past life....or at least should have been. (And no, I can't dance.) LIFE IS GOOD.
